Throughout the entire city of Tianjin, trees and grass are planted along
the roads and emphasis is placed on street beautification as part of a
comprehensive plan. Tianjin is one of the most advanced cities in China
in terms of maintaining city sanitation conditions.
In recent years, Tianjin has made continued efforts in raising people's
awareness of environmental protection together with economic development.
An environmental monitoring network has been gradually implemented in
the city. 865 wastewater processing plants in the city can process 347
million tons of industrial waste water, 90% of the total annually. A package
of administrative and supportive measures for legislation on environmental
protection, control and treatment of pollution have been adopted.
