The holiday resort is 22.O1 square kilometres in area, including 14.O1 square kilometres of land and eight square kilometres of water. Dongli Lake, 12 kilometres in circumference, is 1.5 times larger than the West Lake in Hangzhou and is fondly called "the little fresh-water ocean". It produces an abundance of white bait, mullet and other aquatic products. Every year, as many as 1OO,OOO birds come to procreate offsprings on the shore of the lake. As the area is the head of a terrestrial heat belt in North China, there are many hot water wells with water as hot as 97℃.
