eNorth: Yesterday(27 March) afternoon, Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region(HKSAR) Tung Chee Hwa met Mayor Li Shenglin and his government delegation which take part in the "2001 Tianjin Week in Hong Kong". Both sides exchanged views on issues of Tianjin and Hong Kong Development. Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa affirmed Tianjin investment environment and he hoped industrial and commercial circles in two cities strengthen communication and exchange for co-development. The meeting was in friendly atmosphere. Mr.Tung Chee Hwa carefully asked the information about Tianjin social-economic development and was interested in the fields like Tianjin Port Development, traditional industry reform, science and technology talents and Window enterprise development. Vice-president of Tianjin delegation and Vice-mayor Wang Shuzu, Chairman of Tianjin Federation of Industry & Commerce Zhu Wenju and other relevant delegation members also attended in the meeting.

Mayor Li firstly transmitted a litter of the secretary of Tianjin committee of CPC and Director of Municipal Standing Committee of NPC Zhang Lichang. In the letter, Secretary Zhang Lichang expressed his greeting to Mr.Tung Chee Hwa and thanked for HKSAR's supports to the "2001 Tianjin Week in Hong Kong". Mayor Li simply introduced Tianjin's economic and social situation and economic cooperation of two cities. He said that "2001 Tianjin Week in Hong Kong" is also a large-scale activity which is held by Tianjin and Hong Kong governments after the "Hong Kong Week in Tianjin" last year. And this is also the representation of Seventh session of the Seventh Tianjin CPC Committee and is very important for Tianjin to improve Door-opening and show its nice figure in the world. In recent years, the number of enterprises which are invested by Hong Kong has been up to 4,900 with the total capital of US$ 14 billion. In March 2000, Hong Kong successfully hosted "Hong Kong Week" and we came here with "Tianjin Week" one year after. The activities between two cities represented that the economic exchange and cooperation of Tianjin and Hong Kong had entered a new era. Tianjin eagerly hoped that more Hong Kong friends would focus on Tianjin, know Tianjin and invest in Tianjin. And Tianjin also liked to cooperate with Hong Kong various circles to join and serve the "Go West Campaign". Tianjin will provide excellent services and the best investment environment for Hong Kong investors having more chances than before. He believed that the cover of two cities' cooperation will be wider and can get much more profit than before.

Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa felt confident to recent years' economic cooperation between Tianjin and Hong Kong, and gave high praises to the "2001 Tianjin Week in Hong Kong". He said that Hong Kong industry and commerce figures have become interested in Tianjin in recent years. Their investment and enterprises in Tianjin usually get much profit. It is clear that Tianjin, which is the economic centre in the Bay of Bohai Sea, has distinguished geographic advantages. Mr.Tung Chee Hwa believed that Tianjin has great potentiality in future development. At last, he expressed that HKSAR will create new policies for two cities' economic and commercial cooperation to promote their co-development.
