1, eNorth from Hong Kong: In the early morning, the journalist group
and the tourism working group of "2001 Tianjin Week in Hong Kong"
drive together to the Hong Kong Sailing Center in Sha Tin Gates
and Waters. "2001 Tianjin Week in Hong Kong -- Wanlong Cup Dragon
Boat Race" will be held there.
On our way, a gentleman in our bus steps in the front of the bus,
picks up the microphone and says smilingly,"I would like to recommend
myself to you: my name is Yu Chunhe. I'm the general manager of
Tianjin China International Tourism Service. I have stayed in Hong
Kong for 8 years and is very familiar with Hong Kong. So if you
have questions about Hong Kong, please let me know and I'll give
you the reply with pleasure. The common questions won't put me on
the spot."
His words cause our interest, while we are a bit suspicious about
it as well. Then we raise our questions as a try. "Where are the
best places in Hong Kong for shopping?" "Where the spare parts of
computer can be bought?" "Where is Hong Kong Ocean Park?"... Manager
Yu is not put on the spot by the various questions at all. He not
only answers the questions one by one, but also gives us some advices
as a one who is working in tourism circles.
A guy wants intentionally to test Manager Yu by asking him,"Where
is the best place for eating seafood in Hong Kong?" However this
time Mr. Yu doesn't answer him, but diverts the topic to Tianjin
instead,"Having visited so many places these years, I feel that
we Tianjin people have the gourmet's luck the best. For example,
although Tianjin's cucumber does not look nice, the taste of it
is much better than that Hong Kong imports from Japan at the price
of HK£20 for each one. In addition, Tianjin's radish and seafood
are not bad. In recent years, the quality of Tianjin's fruits becomes
better, too and the price is low. Therefore, you'd better eat seafood
in Tianjin."
At this time, Manager Yu sighs with deep feeling,"Although I have
stayed in Hong Kong for so many years, I still love Tianjin the
most. Hong Kong is pretty developed with many aspects that are worth
learning by Tianjin. However, Tianjin is developing rapidly, too.
I'm working in tourism industry. I know in recent years Tianjin's
tourism industry is very prosperous both in overseas-travelling
and in foreigners' travelling in Tianjin, which indicates that Tianjin's
culture and development begin to attract the tourists from other
places and regions, and at the same time, Tianjin people's becoming
richer and richer stimulates the development of Tianjin's travelling
abroad." he said. Manager Yu advises us to have a visit to other
countries and regions when it is possible. He even begins to advertise
for his company,"Of course you'd better choose Tianjin China International
Tourism Service when you decide to go abroad. We guarantee to offer
the best service to you."
Unwittingly the bus reaches Sha Tin. "Thank you for listening to
me." Manager Yu stops his explanation and calls on us to watch the
race. We applaud without prior consultation for this "Old Hong Kong
Hand".
