天津鋼管公司是我國八五期間建設的現代化冶金企業，是國內目前最大的石油套管生產基地。1988年開始建設，1992年至1994年先后完成熱負荷試車，1995年底通過竣工驗收，1996年正式投入生產。設計能力為年產鋼60万吨，無縫鋼管50万吨，其中石油套管35万吨。主要設備分別從德國、意大利、美國等引進。
